Elefans began many years ago as a reimagining of the infamous Gill Sans Kayo. It basically started by asking "what if Kayo didn't suck" but, under the surface, it was an investigation what makes type certain styles of type good or bad. What makes them feel exciting and contemporary or tired and old. And, most importantly, if it's possible to revisit failed designs and make something that works out of the original concept. It has been slowly transforming into its own beast, super bold but still friendly, warm, and fresh.
